Rev. Dr. Michael McKinley
Michael L. Mckinley, the son of the late Mildred Frazier and the late Rev. Tead Johnson and the late stepmother Maime Johnson. He was also reared by his late stepfather Willie Frazier. Michael was raised by his grandparents Dave and Lucille Mckinley due to parent’s military service. Dr. Michael Lynn Mckinley was born on September 2, 1959, in Elizabethtown, NC. He is the husband of Persandra Mckinley of 37 years. He is the proud father of Malarie, Michaela, Shawna, Destiny and Arneshia. He is the proud grandfather of Jason, Braylan, Brandon, Amiya, Micah, Saniya, Simone, Javion, Kapri and Gabrielle. He is a mentored godfather of Kiara, Shardajah, D’onna, Shakyrra, Dantrell, Sincere and Greg. Four brothers and two sisters with the eldest brother deceased.
Michael graduated from East Bladen High School in 1978. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard. Upon returning home, he was employed by West Point Pepperell. He attended Johnston Community College and received his CDL. He later gained employment at Blanton’s Junior College School as a licensed instructor examiner. He then attended Robeson Community College and received his BLET (Basic Law Enforcement Training).
He worked 11 years in Law Enforcement with 5 years of that being employed with the Bladen County Sheriff Department. Michael then became self-employed as an owner Operator/Truck Driver. He is the owner of Mckinley Trucking.
Pastor Mckinley was raised in the Mt. Olive Community. He joined Mt. Olive AME Zion Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. David Foy where he served as a member of the Male Chorus and Mass Choir. In 2004 he served under the leadership of Rev. Haywood Oliver where he also served as a Class Leader and Chairman of the Trustee Board.
Upon his calling into ministry, He begin his tenure at North Carolina Theological Seminary in 2017 and received his Associate Degree and in 2018 received his bachelor’s degree, Master’s one and Master and Master two. Michael was empowered by the holy spirit to persevere and educate himself to a deeper knowledge of theology of the bible. Michael received his Doctoral Degree.
He was led by the holy spirit to join First Missionary Baptist Church of Elizabethtown during his studies of his Master and Doctoral Degree during his leadership of Rev. Corey M. Lyons. He received his license under Rev. Corey Lyons. He served as Associate Pastor, Sunday School teacher as well as filling in for bible study. Michael was ordained under the Hammonds Creek Baptist Association.
Pastor Michael Mckinley believes in passing on deep knowledge that he has received throughout the years of studies and making change in someone’s walk with God. His favorite scripture is Romans 8:28, which states, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
